Wednesday, 25 January from 10 – 11:00 am PT via Zoom:  The War in Ukraine. Join us as Yulia Kovaliv, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada, discusses Canada and Ukraine’s diplomatic and economic relations, past and present, the current situation in Ukraine including the Canadian government’s support to Kyiv, and her thoughts about the support coming from Canadians and the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada.  The talk will also offer participants an opportunity to ask the Ambassador how Canada and Canadians can continue supporting Ukraine and what support, if any, is missing or needs further addressing.  Ambassador Kovaliv will also speak about President Zelensky’s detailed 10-point peace formula that he announced late last year at the G20, and the G7, when he urged G7 leaders to convene a Global Peace Formula Summit to decide how and when to implement his Ukrainian peace formula.

Our speaker, Ambassador Kovaliv, was appointed Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada and arrived in Ottawa in March 2022. Prior to joining the Embassy Ambassador Kovaliv held the position of the Deputy Head of Office of the President of Ukraine in charge of economic policy development. She also served as the Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of the National State-Owned oil and gas company “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, the Deputy Secretary of the National Investment Council of Ukraine under the President Ukraine and the Member of the National Reform Council.  Ambassador Kovaliv also has a long and key background in Ukraine concerning reforms of privatisation, corporate governance of state-owned enterprises, investment policy, liberalization of the energy sector and energy security.  She holds a Master of Economics from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and a Master of Public Administration from the National Academy for Public Administration.
