For our May Union Club lunch, we are pleased to announce that Joanna Chiu is coming! We are partnering with the Union Club for this event and Munro’s books will be onsite with copies of her new book, China Unbound, which has just been nominated for the $25,000 Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing. Joanna is a senior journalist with the Toronto Star and in her new book she offers readers background on the protests in Hong Kong, underground churches in Beijing, and exile Uyghur communities in Turkey, while exposing Beijing’s human rights violations against those who challenge its power. As a globally-recognized authority on China, Joanna regularly provides nuanced and deeply-informed analysis for international broadcast media including CBC, BBC World, Al Jazeera and NPR. Registration details forthcoming.
