CIC Victoria: Under the Spotlight: Canada and the Indo-Pacific – what next and where next for Canada’s global trading interests?
December 1, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm PST

As part of the Canadian International Council initiative: Foreign Policy By Canadians, CIC Victoria is conducting several Global Economy focused events to address the current state of Canada’s international trading relations and determine what strategic economic pivots might exist that will permit Canada to better safeguard its national interests.
With this in mind and with Canada-China relations at a low point what trade options are there in the Indo-Pacific region that might lessen Canada’s dependence on Xi Jinping’s China? In addition, what are the short-term and long-term challenges to such a strategy and what approaches could Canada reasonably consider and take?
