CIC Victoria: Canada’s National Security
April 3, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm PDT
$15 à $40
We are pleased to announce what will certainly be two, not-to-be-missed events, featuring Richard Fadden, our former National Security Advisor. During his lunch talk, Richard will provide a wide-ranging overview of international issues that pose concerns and potential threats for Canada’s national security. His views have been shaped by a distinguished career in the federal public service, especially in intelligence and national security matters, and have occasionally been expressed in ways that had unexpected results. For CIC members who wish to participate in a more intimate discussion with our speaker, an evening dinner and talk, limited to 25 people, will be held in the Union Club’s McKenzie Room.
Speaker’s Biography
Richard Fadden was National Security Advisor to Prime Ministers Stephen Harper and Justin Trudeau, from 2015 to 2016. Previously, he was Deputy Minister (DM) of National Defence, Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, DM for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, among other appointments. He holds a BA in Political Science from McGill and a law degree from Université de Montréal. In 2017, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
