CIC Vancouver: The Geopolitics of Covid-19

Covid-19 has had immense effects on geopolitics, with numerous international organizations, relationships, and institutions experiencing unprecedented strain. How has Covid-19 intensified geopolitical challenges, and how should our global leaders adopt new strategies in addressing long-term effects of Covid-19?
Join the CIC Vancouver and UBC Professor Yves Tiberghien at this public event to discuss priorities and challenges in geopolitical phenomena in various regions during times of Covid-19.
Speaker:
Yves Tiberghien (PhD. Stanford University, 2002) is a Professor of Political Science, Director Emeritus of the Institute of Asian Research, and Co-Director of the Center for Japanese Research at the University of British Columbia.
Yves is also Distinguished Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada and at the University of Alberta’s China Institute. He serves as the International Steering Committee Member representing Canada at Pacific Trade and Development Conference (PAFTAD). In November 2017, he was made a Chevalier de l’ordre national du mérite by the French President.
Yves’ research specializes in East Asian comparative political economy, international political economy, and global economic and environmental governance, with an empirical focus on China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
