Policy Hackathon 2026

Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 10am, asynchronous
Location: Virtual

The Canadian International Council (CIC) Toronto Branch, together with the NATO Association of Canada,  University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, and CIC Vancouver, is pleased to invite you to join a first of its kind virtual policy hackathon, powered by Venford Technologies.

This event will begin virtually on May 30 and will take place virtually in teams which will subsequently work independently on their own time.

Canada is facing multiple strategic crises at once: trade wars, Arctic competition, defence pressure, and a critical-minerals scramble. At the 2026 Virtual Policy Hackathon (Starting May 30th), teams of 4–6 take on one of these challenges, and build a policy proposal from scratch. Proposals will get stress-tested using first-of-its-kind innovative techniques, and select submissions will be developed into publishable policy briefs after the event. Teams iterate based on feedback, then present to a panel of expert judges.
