CIC Saskatoon: Britain is GREAT – A Conversation with British Consul General Caroline Saunders

November 7, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm UTC-6

Description

It is not every day we get to meet with senior diplomats – let alone from our third largest trading partner – to share words and start a conversation.

Join us at the Saskatoon Club for an afternoon chat with Caroline Saunders, British Consul General for the region of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, during her official visit to Saskatoon.

With her arrival in Calgary in 2016, Canada has become Caroline Saunders’ fourth posting to a Commonwealth nation as she works with UK and Canadian companies and organizations to facilitate trade, investment and innovation connections with Great Britain during this exciting time in her country’s history.

Consul General Saunders comes to her position with unparalleled experience in fields as diverse as Head of Global Challenges and Innovation and Head of Global Low Carbon Growth with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO); the UN Conference on Disarmament negotiations on chemical and biological weapons; Deputy Consul-General and Head of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) in Brisbane, Australia; and Political and Media Officer at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and Development Attaché at the British High Commission in New Delhi. She brings this and many other areas of experience to her post and to the conversation.

This gathering is an opportunity to hear her insights on the UK Canada relationship during a time of growing international shift and unpredictability, and trade and investment possibilities for Saskatoon businesses in her homeland. This is time well spent, not to be missed.

Itinerary:
4:00 p.m. Doors open
4:30 p.m. Introductions and presentation
5:15 p.m. Networking

This event is hosted by the Canadian International Council (saskatoon@thecic.org) as the third in their 2017-18 international event series. Special thanks to SREDA for their support of this event.
