CIC National Capital Branch (Ottawa): Democracy Under Siege – The Cyberwarfare Age
May 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

A shared commitment to democracy and the rule of law is the condition sine qua none of the rules-based international order. The information age has given way to a rise of undemocratic forces, including disinformation sponsored by both private interests and state-sponsored actors, thereby increasing levels of threats to democracy, criminal activity, cyberwarfare, money-laundering, online troll farms, and unregulated transnational crowdfunding. What’s next for Democracy and Canada’s role in the world?
Join the CIC National Capital Branch’s latest edition of its Flagship Event series, for an insightful discussion with an outstanding security and intelligence panel of experts: Jessica Davis, President and Principal Consultant with Insight Threat Intelligence, President of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies, and author of Illicit Money: Financing Terrorism in the Twenty-First Century (2021); Sabreena Delhon, Executive Director of the Samara Centre for Democracy; and Rafal Rohozinski, Principal and Founder of the SecDev Group and Zeropoint Security, a former board member with the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries, the SecDev Foundation and the CIC National Capital Branch, and founding chair of the Branch’s Security and Intelligence Study Group. The discussion will be moderated by Lillian Thomsen, CIC National Capital Branch Board member and Programming Director, Fellow at the University of Ottawa Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, a retired diplomat who served in Warsaw, Moscow, London and as Consul General in St. Petersburg.
