CIC Halifax: An Evening of Networking with Globally-Focused Professionals

On November 5, 2019, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., the Halifax Branch of the Canadian International Council and the Halifax Partnership Connector Program will co-host a panel discussion and networking event for students, new graduates, young professionals and others with an interest in careers with an international dimension.
Four industry professionals with extensive international experience will share their experiences and insights about how they developed their careers and engage in discussion with the audience.
The Format:
A 30-minute moderated panel
A 30-minute Q&A session with the audience
A 60-minute informal reception

Speaker’s Biography
Wendy Luther, President and CEO, Halifax Partnership – Wendy Luther is an internationally recognized leader in export development, with vast experience promoting Nova Scotia and its assets globally. Previous positions include President and CEO, EduNova and Trade Development Executive, Nova Scotia Business Inc.
Toby Mendel, Executive Director, Centre for Law and Democracy – Toby Mendel is a world-renowned legal expert in media freedom, access to information and government transparency. Previous positions include Senior, Director for NGO Article 19, human rights consultant with Oxfam Canada, and policy analyst for the Canadian International Development Agency.
Richard P. Gravel, Coastal Operations Manager, Thales Canada – Richard Gravel is former naval officer – retired at navy Captain rank, having completed a 35 year military career. Previous positions include President and Principal Consultant, Opertech Consulting Ltd. and Naval Attaché to the U.S., Department of National Defence, Washington.
Rachael Borlase , Director of Program Development & Operations, Romeo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative – Rachael Borlase has served in management, training, and technical advisory roles for the BBC’s international development organization – BBC Media Action. She has also worked for Journalists for Human Rights and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
