Description

Today, the war in the Ukrainian Donbas region is among the worst humanitarian crises in the world. Despite armistices being put in place, this conflict between pro-Russian groups (with ongoing support from the Russian Federation) and the Government of Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014. What is happening at this current stage in the war and what circumstances led to this armed conflict? What is Russia’s policy and objectives in Ukraine? At this Politics at the Pub event, Dr. David Marples from the University of Alberta will explain the issues surrounding this turbulent region and discuss the future of this ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
